UPDATE: Proposed "Head Shop" at 1632 South REMOVED from Zoning tonight; and NAC elections

Dear neighbors:

SOSNA received word at 3:15 PM this afternoon from the owners of the proposed "head shop" (i.e. tobacco/glassware/clothing store) at 1632-38 South Street that they are NOT GOING TO MAKE A PRESENTATION TONIGHT.  They did not indicate if they plan to return at all in the foreseeable future.

So, to be clear - there will NOT BE ANY PRESENTATION TONIGHT FOR THE HEAD SHOP at 1632 South Street. Apologies for the late word, but SOSNA just heard this a few minutes ago.

TONIGHT Jazz at Julian, and introducing SOSNA Neighborhood Ambassadors

Dear neighbors:

The Jazz concert at Julian Abele Park originally scheduled for last tuesday will take place TONIGHT.  The concert starts at 7 PM at the Park (22nd and Carpenter Streets) and will feature the SIDECAR ALLSTARS and the DON EVANS BAND.  Visit the Julian Abele Park website to find links to websites/MySpace pages for each band.

July Zoning Agenda, Farmer's Market Product List, and more

Dear neighbors:

A quick reminder about tonight's PSA 1 Community Meeting with the local police.  It starts at 6:30 PM at the SOSNA Office (1901 Christian Street).  It offers a great opportunity to hear directly from the cops protecting our neighborhood.  They report on crime trends and hear questions and suggestions from neighbors.

POSTPONED - Jazz in Julian Abele Park Tonight, and more

Dear neighbors:

SOSNA has just received word that tonight's inaugural JAZZ @ JULIAN ABELE PARK has been postponed.  The tremendous amount of rain that fell this morning, and likely return of more showers this afternoon and evening will make the park unfit for this type of event, when people were supposed to be out in lawn chairs and lounging on picnic blankets.

Stay tuned for information on when this particular concert is rescheduled.  Remember that the next Jazz night is scheduled for TUESDAY JULY 27th.

Dear neighbors:

Tonight's a great night to come together and tackle two crucial (and linked) issues for this neighborhood - CRIME & LITTER.

First, come to the SOSNA office at 6 PM to meet with police officers from the 17th Police District.  Every month they update the community on crime trends for the past month, especially theft from auto, burglaries, and strong-arm robberies - where crimes have taken place, the assailant and victim profile, and time of day.
