UPDATE: Proposed "Head Shop" at 1632 South REMOVED from Zoning tonight; and NAC elections
Dear neighbors:
SOSNA received word at 3:15 PM this afternoon from the owners of the proposed "head shop" (i.e. tobacco/glassware/clothing store) at 1632-38 South Street that they are NOT GOING TO MAKE A PRESENTATION TONIGHT. They did not indicate if they plan to return at all in the foreseeable future.
So, to be clear - there will NOT BE ANY PRESENTATION TONIGHT FOR THE HEAD SHOP at 1632 South Street. Apologies for the late word, but SOSNA just heard this a few minutes ago.

Thursday, July 22, 2010 at 7 PM: NAC Election Meeting - Diversified Community Services Board Elections, at Marian Anderson Recreation Center, 704 S. 17th Streets.
This just in from our friends at Diversified Community Services (Dixon House), the Neighborhood Advisory Committee (NAC) for this area. The NAC's mission is, "To develop and carry out strategies for neighborhood revitalization and to encourage home ownership." It provides such services such as 1) Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP); 2) Utility Emergency Fund; 3) Weatherization assistance; 4) the Philadelphia Water Conservation Program (LICAP) to reduce water wastage in low-income households; and more!
COMMUNITY MEETING
***Diversified Community Services (Dixon House) NAC Election - Looking for a few good people to serve as advisory members.*** The Election for NAC Board Members will be held on July 22, 2010 at 7:00 pm at Marian Anderson Recreation Center Located at 704 S. 17th Streets.
This will be a (2) year term for NAC Members that are elected. To qualify one must be 18 years of age, Live in the catchment's area - from 6th street to the Schuylkill River and Washington Avenue (north side) to South Street (south side).
The Election will be monitored by the election Committee and the Office of Housing and community Development (OHCD) of the City of Philadelphia, the polls will Close at 8:00 pm sharp.
