INTRODUCING THE 2010 SOSNA NEIGHBORHOOD AMBASSADORS!!
SOSNA is thrilled to introduce all neighbors to our Neighborhood Ambassadors:
(click each name to learn more about them)
Look for these ambassadors throughout the summer. They'll be walking the neighborhood picking up recyclable material, clearing storm drains, and collecting vital data. They'll also be signing people up for Recycling Rewards, documenting Philly 311 Service Requests, giving out info on SEPTA and publicizing community meetings!
Check back to the Neighborhood Ambassador page on the SOSNA website for images of how much recyclable material these Ambassadors have collected from the streets of our neighborhood each week. The Ambassadors will be working Monday thru Thursday through the middle of August. Weather permitting, they will target sections of the neighborhood based on their trash day. Mondays they will target the neighborhood west of 21st Street; Tuesdays between 21st and 16th Streets; Wednesday east of 16th Street to Broad. On Thursdays and other days throughout the summer they'll also be completing important surveying or polling neighbors about a variety of issues.
The SOSNA Neighborhood Ambassador program is brand new in the summer of 2010, having been first conceived in the late-spring by the SOSNA Clean & Green committee. The committee wanted to expand on existing efforts to educate and inform the community about proper trash/recycling procedures in its continued push for a litter free neighborhood.
All four Ambassadors are high school students and have been hired in partnership with the Boys and Girls Clubs of Philadelphia, and the Philadelphia Youth Network, through WorkReady Philadelphia, a program that provides students with summer jobs and career training.
Please join SOSNA in welcoming them to the neighborhood! Do not hesitate to stop them to ask a question or just to introduce yourself. Also, please contact the SOSNA office with any ideas for projects or tasks that might be suitable for these Ambassadors to tackle over the summer.
